There will be a range of water projects such as regional water resources plans, water company drought and water resources plans, drought permit applications and monitoring programmes.
This role forms part of a wider dynamic team of multi-disciplinary water and environmental experts that includes specialists in the fields of water resources, hydro-ecology, ground and surface water hydrology, flood risk, geomorphology, water quality, aquatic and terrestrial ecology, natural capital, environmental impact assessment and planning.
Key responsibilities
- Take the lead in liaising with clients and stakeholders and developing client ownership.
- Provide technical advice to clients related to water resources and drought management, with a focus on environment & planning.
- Carry out technical inputs to analysis and reporting, and review outputs from others on water resources and drought related projects.
- Hold an integral role in identifying new opportunities and bid preparation.
- Support expansion of our offering in water resources within our current water company client portfolio.
- In addition, look at expanding into new sectors within the UK primarily, but there is scope to expand internationally.
- Provide a team mentoring role and/or team leadership for junior colleagues.
Key competencies and experience
- A Degree or Masters-level qualification in a relevant environmental or water resource management field.
- Experience of water resource planning and drought management from an environmental perspective.
- Desirable – experience of groundwater impact assessments.
- Experience of preparing bids for a range of clients.
- A background in consultancy, water companies or regulatory perspective.
- Understanding of the latest regulatory requirements of UK water resources management related to water resource and wider drought planning.
- Experience of developing new and current client portfolios of work.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to write high quality, concise, technical reports.

- Effective stakeholder liaison and management skills, including keeping clients and internal project staff up to date with progress, programme changes and tasks.

- Ideally gained or be working towards chartership with a relevant profession body.
