WaterAid India – Introduction
Established in 1981, WaterAid (WAI) has been working in India since 1986 to promote access to safe water and sanitation in both rural and urban areas. WaterAid’s presence in India is national in scope, with districtwide interventions in 39 districts from 13 states. Each region is managed through a Regional Office (RO): RO-North based in Lucknow manages programs in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan; RO-East based in Bhubaneshwar manages programs in Odisha and Jharkhand; RO-South based in Hyderabad manages Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana; RO- West based in Bhopal manages Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Empanelment of individual consultants

The Policy unit at WaterAid India works on policy research and advocacy on four thematic areas: drinking water, sanitation, hygiene and integration of WASH with other sectors, and WASH in institutions. Within these four themes, the key focus areas of WaterAid India’s policy work includes inclusion of vulnerable groups, sustainable services, sector strengthening, and WASH and health linkages. The activities undertaken for policy advocacy include research, pilots, technical support to government, campaigns, media advocacy, and alliances and networks.

WaterAid India is looking to empanel consultants, both mid-level and senior level, for short-term consulting assignments, to provide technical inputs and support for various assignments as part of the policy advocacy initiatives. Some of these assignments can start in June-July 2020, while remaining would be taken up throughout the financial year, till March 2020-21. Broadly the nature of assignments would be around research, documentation, policy analysis, evaluations and technical inputs under various thematic areas that WaterAid India works on. Some of the research can be in and around the programme locations of WaterAid India, in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Hence we may need consultants from some of these locations as well.
