The Water Administration Engineer is a front-line position that administers the Water Act while providing technical and policy advice regarding water management issues and represents the department publicly with the goal of resolving them. This exciting work is carried out within the framework of provincial legislation, policy and the current business plan. In this position you will learn and help develop a new regulatory framework that involves outcome based environmental management systems.
In this role you will:
University graduation in Applied Science or Engineering (preferably Civil), Environmental or Agricultural disciplines, plus five years related experience in water resource managements is required. Equivalencies will be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. Must be eligible for membership with APEGA.
Assets to this position include: hydraulic and river training design, hydrology analysis, design and maintenance of water management infrastructure, construction management.
Equivalency: Additional related education considered in lieu of experience on a one-for-one basis.

Systems Thinking: A systems thinking is needed at all levels of the APS because the results of our work impact our colleagues and a wide range of stakeholders in a variety of different ways. Systems/Strategic Thinking allows us to keep broader impacts and connections in mind while assessing options and implications when decision making.
$3,007.16 to $4,163.64 bi-weekly ($78,486 to $108,671 annually)
This competition may be used to fill future vacancies across the Government of Alberta, at equal or lower classification and salary.
Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
