Job Description
Salary: Competitive with excellent benefits
With 10 years to achieve Agenda 2030, the SDG 6 targets are among the furthest behind. Achieving universal, sustainable access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene will require a major mobilisation of resources, public demand and political will. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving forward this agenda, positioning WaterAid effectively in the corridors of power, and helping to deliver improvements in the lives of millions of the world’s poorest.
We are looking for an exceptional and recognised leader in public affairs, with strong leverageable networks in the global development sector. The successful candidate will have brilliant influencing and lobbying skills, and experience of building relationships at the most senior levels, including with donor governments, the UN system and multilaterals. Great political judgement will be critical, alongside a track record of achieving political change through an array of tactics including lobbying, public campaigning and the media. A talent for framing complex policy issues into simple and compelling messages which will gain traction is essential.
Candidates will need to have experience in matrix, remote or distance management, with the ability to coach, motivate and develop a high performing team to deliver change. You’ll be joining a 2020 Great Place to Work® award-winning organisation.
The post can be based in London, New York or Washington DC. In London, WaterAid is currently based in Vauxhall, but will be moving to Canary Wharf in the near future. The New York office is based in Tribeca/The Financial District and our DC office is Downtown.
