Fellow (Post Doc)

Kansas State University

Manhattan, KS, US

About This Role:

The Hydrological Remote Sensing Group at Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences, Kansas State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to participate in a global hydrology project under the funding of NASA’s Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) Science Team.  This project focuses on the integration of reservoirs and river obstructions into SWOT’s global surface water storage and discharge monitoring.  The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work with Dr. Jida Wang, together with an international team of collaborators, on critical data preparation and algorithm development before the launch of the SWOT satellite mission, and scientific applications during the mission operation period.  For more information about SWOT and its science missions, please visit https://swot.jpl.nasa.gov/science.htm

Why Join Us:

The recruited Post Doc will gain first-hand research experience related to SWOT, one of NASA’s most ground-breaking satellite missions in hydrology, and have his/her research outcomes directly exposed to the mission science team. The research training and exposure gained from this position will substantially boost the career development of the recruited postdoctoral researcher, particularly in the disciplines of hydrological remote sensing and water resources.

We Support Diversity and Inclusion:

The Department of Geography and Geospatial Science in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks to foster diversity in a commitment to recruit, retain and resource peoples historically under-represented in university education in the United States. Fostering diversity goes beyond increasing the numbers of under-represented students, faculty and staff. It also includes a commitment to substantial curricular offerings, resources, and programming that foregrounds the knowledges, perspectives, cultures, and histories of marginalized communities. A truly diverse college culture and structure will benefit all members of the university community to better serve and excel in an increasingly global and multicultural world.
