Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas.

 

The Water Division of the Energy Environment and Water Research Center is looking for an enthusiastic Technical Research Specialist in Environmental Hydrology.

 

The Water Division is maintaining a number of hydrologic and environmental monitoring units and observation stations in Cyprus. The successful candidate will cooperate with the researchers and PhD students of the Water Division in the maintenance of automatic stations and sensors and the installation of new stations, including an Eddy-Covariance system.

The Technical Research Specialist will also conduct manual streamflow, groundwater and plant-physiological observations. They will take water, soil and plant samples in the field and will analyze properties in the laboratory. Also they will cooperate with local stakeholders and assist with the management and processing of large environmental data sets.

The appointment will preferably be on a full time basis, initially for one year, with the potential of contract renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The main duties and responsibilities of the selected candidate will be the following:

  • Maintenance of off-grid field hydrologic, meteorological and ecosystem sensors and data loggers
  • Installation of experimental field monitoring stations
  • Streamflow, groundwater and plant-physiological observations
  • Water, soil and plant sampling and laboratory analysis
  • Collection and management of large data sets, including data quality checks and processing
  • Cooperation and communication with local stakeholders
