As a Supervisory Hydrologist within the South Atlantic Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Develop training program to build and improve scientists’ skill sets.
  • Initiate and maintain strong relationships with Federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Inform cooperators of potential scientific needs.
  • Manage project budgets and work plans and lead/mentor staff.
  • Write scientific reports.
  • Operate a government vehicle.

Physical Demands:
Primarily sedentary, with some field work. Occasional physical activities required in field assignments include walking, bending, stooping, and carrying scientific equipment. Field work may occasionally require lifting heavy objects and wading in streams in all types of weather.

Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment, with some travel to attend meetings or review field operations. Office assignments normally involve every day risk of discomforts that are typical of office meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles. Work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Field work may expose hydrologist to potentially dangerous situations and to moderate discomfort from such extremes as heat, cold, and inclement weather.
