The MDBA is seeking a Director to lead delivery of the Enhanced Environmental Water Delivery (EEWD) project.

The EEWD project is a critical component of the Basin Plan’s Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism program, put forward jointly by New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria. The project proponents are the states, with the MDBA as the key service delivery agency.

The EEWD project comprised of a complex suite of sub-projects that will modernise planning, forecasting, coordination and delivery processes for environmental water across the southern connected Basin. Implementation of this project will deliver a range of tools, administrative and operational changes, and will require significant stakeholder engagement.

As the Director – EEWD, you will lead a dedicated project team and manage and respond to expert input including from consultants, the MDBA and the proponent states to deliver the EEWD project within the MDBA. In this role you will be required to establish and oversee the critical project management and governance arrangements including:
– funding arrangements for the agreed program of work 
– sequencing of project deliverables and timeframes
– appropriate internal governance structures, including the project management office function
– appropriate external governance arrangements, including a Basin government steering committee, secretariat function and performance reporting
– manage a range of technical consultancies and internal agreements to deliver the agreed project activities.

The project will be delivered in a number of stages and you will also be required to provide comprehensive planning for the continued rollout of the project. You will also be required to undertake a strategic risk assessment, oversee technical workshops, as well as manage a secretariat to support Basin governments’ decision making in relation to the project.

This position will require significant engagement and collaboration with stakeholders within the MDBA and with Basin states and the Commonwealth.
Project management qualifications or minimum of 5 years project management experience.

Desirable for this role:
Tertiary qualifications in natural sciences, engineering or other discipline where the focus was relevant to the management of water resources.
