Sightsavers has been working in Guinea-Bissau since 2001 and is focused on accelerating the elimination of diseases such as river blindness, lymphatic filariasis, and trachomas well as responding to schistosomiasis.
The objective of this Consultancy is to develop a complete landscape analysis of using the most up to date NTD/WASH data and summarising existing interventions NTD/WASH in Guinea Bissau with close engagement of Ministry of Water and Sanitations, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education (school health and hygiene)
The Consultant will develop a clear timeline for conducting the Landscape Analysis, including a communication plan for keeping all program stakeholders apprised of progress. This also involves undertaking desk reviews of existing epidemiological NTD data, WASH studies, campaigns, white-papers, WASH Behaviour Change interventions, NTD plans, and gap analysis that underpin national WASH and NTD efforts to date.
The consultant will work with relevant members of Guinea Bissau’s, region and/or district level NTD Task Forces and WASH teams to identify and review relevant WASH strategies and will meet online/ by phone with Implementing Partners and organisations/Agencies engaging in Behaviour Change interventions and initiatives to discuss their knowledge and experiences they may have in relation to WASH activities undertaken in and around the geographic areas that are supported by the program.
Expected outputs/ deliverables
- Inception report including detailed methodology and schedule of the analysis
- Mid-term report including provisional findings based on epidemiological data and WASH needs (excluding annexes)
- Final report as per approved landscape analysis protocol (with executive summary)
- Bi-Weekly check in (skype, Zoom) with WASH/SBCC Implementation Manager or Ascend POU Program Officer
- Power point presentation
- Oral presentation of the analysis findings to stakeholders
The Consultant must have a background working in WASH, BCC and NTD programmes; experience in researching WASH, BCC and NTDs; a competence in a broad range of qualitative and quantitative research methods and good writing, presentation and communication skills
