Job Description and Duties
The State Water Resources Control Board’s Office of Research, Planning, and Performance has an opening for a Senior Environmental Specialist in the Climate and Conservation Unit. The position location is 1001 I Street, 13th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814.
The Office of Research, Planning, and Performance develops and implements policies in emerging and cross-cutting areas related to water in California. Currently, the portfolio of the Office spans climate change, the Human Right to Water, water conservation, groundwater use, emergency response and recovery, and more.

The Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) works under the direction of the Environmental Program Manager of the State Water Board’s Climate and Conservation Unit in the Office of Research, Planning, and Performance (ORPP). The incumbent leads climate change analysis and implementation of the State Water Board’s climate change resolution:
- Track and analyze implementation of the climate change resolution
Recommend State and Regional Water Board actions to improve climate change mitigation and adaptation
Collaborate with other state agencies on climate initiatives
Supports policy decisions by executive management and Board Members
Supports implementation of water conservation policies
