The ministry has been developed through the amalgamation of legislative authorities in land and resource agencies to provide clients with a single point of access to natural resource authorizations and resource management services at many locations across the province. The ministry is structured in 23 districts within eight regions under the leadership of three geographically based Assistant Deputy Ministers.
Reporting to a Regional Executive Director (RED) the Director of Resource Management is accountable for the delivery of region-wide operations and the coordination of consistent delivery of district activities under provincial policy and legislative direction within the ministry.
Located on Vancouver Island, Nanaimo has parks such as Neck Point, Piper’s Lagoon and Sealand Park, perfect for camping, hiking and exploring. Mt. Washington, the island’s most popular ski hill, has year-round activities such as hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing and skiing.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, business/public administration or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in natural resources management including each of the following:
- Experience providing advice to senior executives
- Experience in an operational management capacity with business and organizational planning accountabilities
- Experience dealing with complex resource management issues that may significantly impact multiple parties
- Experience developing processes, procedures and practices to support work team and/or business delivery
- Experience leading and coaching diverse teams
- Experience in financial and human resource management
