The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) is a public institution of research and higher education in the fields of engineering, architecture, sciences and technology, and one of the leading technical universities in Europe. Every year, more than 6,000 bachelor’s and master’s students, more than 231 doctoral students graduate and 3,591 graduates in lifelong learning. The UPC has a high graduate employment rate: 93% of its graduates are in work and 76% find a job in under three months.
Doctoral programme in Civil Engineering
The doctoral programme in Civil Engineering currently offered is an interdepartmental programme organised around six broad areas of knowledge: structural engineering and construction, geotechnical engineering, water engineering, transport engineering and regional planning, environmental engineering and sustainability, and computational engineering.
The candidate will work at the Center of Applied Research in Hydrometeorology (CRAHI, http://www.crahi.upc.edu/), one of the research centers in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
CRAHI develops methodologies and systems to provide a scientific and technical response to the needs in the hydrological cycle processes, water resources management, and hydrometeorological risks, including the impact of climate change. At CRAHI, observations and processing of remote sensing data are combined with innovative models and IT applications for forecasting and alerting to support the decision-making process and managing resources and emergencies.
The candidate will particularity work within the framework of EU Horizon Europe RESIST project (Regions for climate change resilience through Innovation, Science and Technology) to increase the capacity to detect extreme situations and achieve better preparation of society and municipalities so that regions are more resistant to climate change.
