The Water Markets Specialist roles support the Bureau’s mission to deliver increased value and impact to Australia’s water sector – through provision of specialist advice, customer engagement and relationship management – focussed on our role in collecting and reporting water markets information.
The Bureau is central to the quality and availability of water information across the country, having been entrusted as Australia’s water information agency via the Water Act of 2007. It delivers its water information functions through the collaboration of over 200 data provider organisations, which are named in the Water Regulations 2008. The data these organisations provide are also listed in the Water Regulations 2008 and associated documents.
The Bureau is seeking an experienced professional to provide leadership in our contribution to the Government’s water markets reform agenda and our ongoing role as collector, manager and provider of water markets information.
The Bureau is currently consulting with Basin state governments, water trade approval authorities and water market intermediaries in the design of data standards, revision of water regulations and the development of a new water markets information system. These are all designed to improve the access to, and transparency of, water markets data and to support effective regulation and compliance.
This role will provide specialist advice, reports, and consultation with external and internal stakeholders to deliver these water markets reforms and to embed these into ongoing operations. It will work closely with the Senior Water Markets Lead and the team to deliver integrated and collaborative solutions that are grounded through strong stakeholder and customer engagement.
