The School of Public Policy at Pennsylvania State University welcomes applications for an open rank, tenure-track faculty position in environmental policy. The start date for the position is August 2020.

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in public policy or a related social science field (e.g. political science, sociology, or economics) by August 2020.

Successful candidates will have a:

  • Demonstrated ability for conducting high-quality research
  • Track-record of or potential for securing external funding
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence
  • Willingness to help mentor graduate students
  • Willingness to participate in service to the program, university and public policy field

In addition, successful candidates must have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable and diverse campus community.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work with a network of scholars in the interdisciplinary Penn State Institute of Energy and Environment and the Water Faculty Consortium (

The School of Public Policy at Penn State (University Park) was created in 2018 in response to the call in the university strategic plan for Penn State to address complex global issues. With strong social sciences, data analytics and sciences, Penn State is well-positioned to be a leader in public policy. Currently the program has an MPP degree, which is welcoming its first cohort of MPP students in Fall 2019. This is a great opportunity for an energetic scholar, teacher, and colleague who would like to help build an outstanding public policy program at a top research university.
