The research group Urban Water Engineering at Luleå University of Technology is searching for a driven, committed researcher who is interested in an Associate Senior Lecturer position within Urban Engineering with focus on stormwater pollution management.

The Urban Water engineering research group has a strong position regarding research and education within the area of urban water systems mainly regarding stormwater, wastewater and sewer systems. Being part of the Urban Water group implies working in an international and creative environment. The group consists of a number of senior researchers, adjunct professors and about 20 doctoral candidates. The group has an extensive national and international collaboration network. The group’s overall aim is to contribute to the development of sustainable urban water systems.

Subject description
Urban Water Engineering encompasses the entire urban water system (stormwater, drinking water and wastewater) including collection, transport and treatment, as well as organisation and planning. Our research aims at encouraging a clean environment and the efficient use of resources, while preserving public health and safety.
You will work on evaluating the performance and optimising the design and maintenance of stormwater control measures, in particular those intended for pollution management. The work will be performed in collaboration with others in projects and will involve a combination of modelling, field work and laboratory studies. You will be responsible for publications within the area as well as contribute to new research applications, management and coordination of research projects and be a support in related PhD-students projects and development. Teaching both on basic and advanced level will be a part of the job description.  

Assessment criteria
Eligibility requirements according to the Higher Education Ordinance and the employment order. The person entitled to be employed as an associate senior lecturer is the one who:

  • a doctorate or a foreign degree that is decided to correspond to a doctoral degree.

The following assessment criteria are applied for the position:

  • Scientific skills
  • Experience of publishing scientific papers is required

Other grounds for assessment (weighted equally)

Knowledge in the area of ​​urban water engineering in general and stormwater pollution management in particular.

  • Contact network in the research area.
  • Experience of coordinating projects.
  • Ability to seek external research and development funds.
  • Teaching experience  

Other assessment grounds are folded equally. Provided that the qualifications are otherwise equal, the underrepresented gender will be given priority. In addition, other objective grounds, such as the university’s gender equality goals, shall be taken into account.

Associate Senior Lecturer position is a full time position spanning 4 year.
