Responsibilities

This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in either the GS-0810 or GS-1315 series depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

At the GS-12 level, the incumbent serves as a Hydrologic Civil Engineer or Hydrologist, responsible for the development, analysis, use and evaluation of models, water operations management plans, and NEPA and ESA compliance for the Bay Delta Office.

-Uses advanced scientific and professional knowledge and experience to organize, compile, evaluate, and analyze a complex body of scientific information on problems associated with providing Federal water service to agricultural, municipal and industrial, or other users.

-Investigates the applicability of various models for use in hydrologic studies for environmental compliance. Performs complex hydrologic investigations involving the development and coordination of computer simulation models and the design and development of mathematical operations.

-Researches studies on broad, complex subject areas related to the agency’s water service program and synthesize data to correlate relationships to specialized fields, such as hydrology, biology, soil science, geography, and engineering.

-Provides technical guidance in the area of resource modeling and application projects. Contacts other Area Offices, Regional Offices and the Denver Office, as well as other agencies and private organizations to represent the Bay Delta Office for planning studies and environmental compliance purposes.
