Dewberry has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Water Quality Modeler in our expanding resilience practice in our Fairfax, VA office. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise for flood resilience projects and will engage with a diverse group of passionate water resources professionals to provide high-quality, integrated solutions to our clients.
Candidates should have proven project experience with watershed hydrology, water quality modeling, hydraulic and riparian vegetation modeling; 1D, 2D, and 3D surface water quality modeling; integrated watershed, receiving water body modeling and ecosystem assessment; and environmental risk assessment and modeling. Modeling experience with EFDC, HEC‐RAS, CE‐QUAL, SWAT, HSPF, HEC‐HMS, BASINS, and MODFLOW, is preferred. Proven experience with project delivery for multiple Federal, State and local coastal agencies/clients is also preferred.
Required Skills & Required Experience
- Support coastal planning, engineering, water quality modeling, design, construction, marine structure, and resilience studies or projects
- Provide technical expertise for water quality modeling efforts
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
- Ph.D. in environmental engineering or related field
- Experience with publications in relevant industry journals preferred
- 20+ years practical experience in the field
- Proven ability to collaborate with project teams
- Candidate must have exceptional writing and communication skills
