Job purpose and background

Do you care about environmental issues? Do you want to be part of the action on climate change, deforestation and water security? Would you like to be at the heart of driving changes through environmental disclosure?

You will be responsible for project managing the delivery of a number of disclosure projects which seek to enhance the impact of, the efficiency of delivery, and the quality of CDP’s disclosure system. You will work closely with the Head of Disclosure Evolution to define requirements, plan deliveries and ensure that tasks are on track.

You will have experience of managing and delivering projects to time, budget, requirements and quality. You will need to demonstrate capability to work and communicate effectively with other team members to ensure processes are followed, deliverables meet milestones and are delivered to high standards of quality. You will also need to have a knowledge of environmental issues (specifically climate change, deforestation and water security) and how they affect businesses, cities, states and regions.

The role is a 14-month fixed term contract based in CDP’s London office and reports directly to the Head of Disclosure Evolution in the Disclosure department.

About the Disclosure Evolution Team, Disclosure Department

CDP’s Disclosure Department is responsible for evolving and operating CDP’s disclosure platform and processes. The Disclosure Evolution team is responsible for delivering projects that enhance CDP’s environmental disclosure platform used by companies, cities and state/regional governments. This encompasses changes to make our questionnaires, guidance and scoring methodologies more impactful by measuring and driving transition of disclosers to more sustainable business models, as well as changes to make our platform and operations more efficient.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and ensuring delivery of CDP’s Question to Score evolution projects to time, customer requirements and budget. This includes:
  • Assigning ownership (e.g. using RASCI models) of tasks for project workstreams
  • Aiding the Head of Disclosure Evolution to recruit, train and build delivery teams for the Question to Score workstream
  • Ensuring that meetings and communications with the governance for internal and external stakeholders are organised
  • Liaising with Technology teams to ensure handoffs and dependencies upon IT systems deliveries are understood, tracked and managed
  • Managing staff of up to 10 people, assigning tasks and tracking for completion and quality to report back to the Head of Disclosure Evolution
  • Any other tasks required to support the development of CDP’s disclosure objectives more broadly

Required skills and experience:

  • Experience (3-5 years) of managing projects and teams of over five staff in multi-stakeholder environments to time, budget and quality using both agile and waterfall approaches, and including defining and reporting of key performance indicators
  • Experience organising and facilitating multi-stakeholder workshops and requirements gathering
  • A demonstrable understanding of the technical aspects of corporate disclosure and assessment
  • A background or relevant degree in natural resources or environmental sciences, including knowledge of policy and regulatory context for water use
  • A flexible, friendly and diligent working style with a proven record of working within a team to deliver projects successfully
  • Track record of successful communication of technical subjects through a variety of media, including writing and proofreading technical documents, and conference presenting
  • Proficiency in excel and power point.
  • Fluent in English and an excellent standard of written English

Desired skills and experience

  • Experience and knowledge in corporate environmental action and target setting, including science-based environmental targets (SBTs)
  • Experience of working in or familiarity with corporate sectors would be considered a plus (such as, but not exclusively, financial services, chemicals, agriculture)
  • Technical ability in another language (especially Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish, Portuguese)

This is a full time, 14-month contract role based at CDP’s London office reporting to Head of Disclosure Evolution.
