The DEWA R&D Center is looking to fill the vacancy of a senior researcher to lead the Water area. The senior researcher tasks include: developing and conducting research in related areas, contributing in the formation of the overall strategy of the Water research programs, supervising and mentoring junior researchers in developing their research activities, and coordinating with other researchers for developing joint interdisciplinary research efforts (e.g. solar desalination).
The Water Research Area scope encompasses the following fields: (i) advanced desalination systems (including e.g. reverse osmosis, multi-stage RO, MED, renewables integration, pre-treatment and anti-fouling), (ii) water transmission and distribution (including e.g. minimizing water losses, remote sensing of leakage, preventive maintenance, strategic aquifer storage), and (iii) water and co-product usage (including e.g. zero discharge desalination, brine valorization, water reuse).
The ideal candidate would have extensive research experience (more than 8 years of active research in academic and/or industrial organizations) in one or more of these areas. The research activity should be demonstrated by a strong publication record and a record of competitively obtaining, managing and delivering research projects in the field.

The candidate should be comfortable working as member of a dynamic, research-oriented group with several ongoing concurrent projects across multiple areas but also manage individual tasks independently. Thinking out of the box and comfort in bridging cross-disciplinary silos to conduct innovative research are strongly desirable qualities.

– Scopus-indexed publication record commensurate to the experience

– Demonstrable experience of competitively obtaining, managing and delivering research projects
Basic Qualifications
– PhD in a related discipline e.g. Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Water and Environmental Engineering, etc.
– Facility with related modeling and simulation software
– Eight (8) years of industrial and/or research experience in the field
