Transport for NSW is delivering an unprecedented $55.6b investment into a truly game changing Future Transport strategy which will bring together several modes and cutting edge technologies to deliver satisfaction and safety for our customers while supporting a rapidly growing economy.
The Safety, Environment and Regulation division promotes safety and sustainability of the transport system and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary projects teams to help deliver infrastructure for the community of NSW. We also undertake research, educate communities, develop policies and enforce regulations to constantly improve safety and environmental outcomes.
The Princes Highway Upgrade program builds on the NSW Government’s commitments to improve safety and travel on the Princes Highway. In 2019, the NSW Government, in conjunction with the Australian Government, committed $1.46 billion towards an upgrade program for the Princes Highway Corridor south of Nowra.
Use your knowledge, experience and expertise as an Environment Officer with infrastructure experience to help deliver this large infrastructure program on the south coast of NSW.
What you will be involved in:
- Promoting the consistent application of environmental legislation, government and TfNSW environmental policy and procedures to support the delivery of transport infrastructure for the Princes Highway Upgrade Project
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team you will provide advice and assistance in the development and implementation of practical and effective environmental strategies, guidelines, policies and procedures to support the management and resolution of environmental matters
- Undertaking site inspections and environmental audits in accordance with policies and procedure to promote continuous improvement in environmental performance and compliance with regulatory, contractual and system requirements.
- Reviewing and preparing comprehensive environmental assessment documentation to support the assessment of environmental impacts.
You are tertiary qualified in environmental science, environmental planning, environmental management, environmental engineering or a related discipline.
Your experience working within multi-disciplinary infrastructure project teams will be essential. Your experience will include the delivery of high quality environmental assessment documentation and the provision of practical guidance to identify and manage risks to improve the environmental performance of infrastructure projects.
Your previous experience in monitoring and evaluating environmental performance while providing advice and guidance to improve environmental outcomes in the construction phase of projects will equip you well as you will be on site engaging with a variety of stakeholders.
As you will be engaging with a variety of stakeholders from technical specialists to construction site personnel, you will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
You must hold a Class C Drivers Licence as you will be required to travel to sites.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is USS Grade 9 ($111,806 – $120,194) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
