The Partnership today is active in supporting around 60 countries in implementing their NDCs and 65 in revising those NDCs with a view to enhancing ambition. Together these activities have yielded several thousand discrete requests from countries through Request for Support Letters (RSL); more detailed Partnership Plans (PP) and applications through the Climate Ambition Enhancement Package (CAEP). The Partnership tags each of these requests and tracks where support is mobilized so as to identify important trends, spot gaps in support provided and help its members identify where to deploy their resources. This unique data set is tracked and analyzed through the partnership’s knowledge management system, known as the kNook (based on the Knack database platform).
You will play a key role in cataloging, analyzing and sharing this information. Reporting directly to the Knowledge and Learning Director, you will work closely with staff across the NDC Partnership Support Unit to ensure that the team is capturing the most important insights from the Partnership’s work. This includes responsibility for the technical functioning of kNook; ensuring that data are current and well-tagged; conducting analysis to identify key trends; engaging with colleagues to link these trends to first-hand country insights; and sharing key lessons with the wider Partnership. Analysis will draw on the kNook but also on the wider inputs of Support Unit colleagues and Partnership members. You will oversee the work of one or more junior staff and empower them to contribute to this vital work.
kNook management (50%)
- Oversee a small team to ensure timely inputting and QA of kNook data
- Manage kNook tagging structure, including revisions when necessary (recommendation and implementation of revisions)
- Conduct regular analysis of internal kNook usage to inform future developments (including recommendations to simplify or get rid of certain sections, as well as recommendations on where to expand)
- Engage across the SU team to ensure that both kNook content and analytical outputs align with team knowledge and goals
- Lead technical changes to kNook in the Knack backend and develop and lead RFP process to hire a web developer to incorporate bigger changes if needed
- Support the Head of Knowledge Management in ensuring alignment between kNook and a new online platform for Partnership Plans (either through data sharing between the systems or full integration)
- Respond to ad-hoc kNook data requests
- Advise on how kNook can better support development of PPs and RSLs for countries
- Advise on how kNook can better inform peer exchanges among members
- Support kNook trainings both internally staff and externally to partners
Research and analytical outputs (30%)
- Identify important trends and key research questions
- In collaboration with the Head of Knowledge Products, define priorities for analytical written products
- Produce high-quality, accessible written analysis to inform Support Unit priorities, Partnership members and broader international audiences
- Share regular updates with the Knowledge & Learning team within the Support Unit, and the entire Support Unit, where relevant
Member Engagement (20%)
- Based on the Partnership’s insights, manage regular webinars and other outreach to expert members to ensure that they are aware of trends and gaps
- Solicit expert input from members on Support Unit analysis
- As needed, prepare communication materials, participate in external meetings and support onboarding of members
- Master’s degree preferred (or bachelor’s degree with 2 additional years of relevant experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant, full-time work experience
- Experience in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
- Experience in database management
- Technical knowledge of the climate and development fields and of its main actors
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate with teams from different countries
- Capacity to work well under pressure and successfully manage multiple deadlines and competing demands in a “start-up” environment
- Experience working in developing countries preferred
- Experience working with online databases and websites a plus
- Language abilities in Spanish and/or French (in addition to English) a plus
- Commitment to NDC Partnership’s mission, values, and approach to climate and development
- US work authorization is required for this opportunity

Following the landmark Paris Agreement, countries are implementing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for climate action. The NDC Partnership is a coalition of countries and international institutions working together to ensure countries receive the technical assistance and financial support they need to achieve ambitious climate and sustainable development targets as fast and effectively as possible.
The Partnership aims to increase alignment, coordination, and access to resources to link needs to solutions.
- Technical Assistance and Capacity Building – We support governments in defining the processes, policies, and plans required to deliver mitigation and adaptation goals, alongside other development objectives.

The NDC Partnership Support Unit is a staff of approximately 40 individuals, jointly hosted by the World Resources Institute in Washington, DC, and the UNFCCC in Bonn, Germany.
