This position is located in the National Weather Service (NWS), Office of Water Prediction (OWP) with two vacancies in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Responsibilities
The working title for this position is a Senior Hydrologist. As a Senior Hydrologist, you will perform the following duties:
- Develop and modify water resources procedures, techniques, and forecasting applications to ensure optimal use of technologies and data.
- Perform daily hydrologic forecast functions including short-range forecasting during high water and flood events, and long-range hydrologic forecasting to include spring snowmelt, flood outlooks, and river volume.
- Provide briefings for senior leaders, core partners, and other federal agencies including with Regional and National Centers, National Weather Service (NWS) Offices, Senior Duty Meteorologists about routine and high impact events.
