Advisor (m/f/d) for micro-hydropower rural electrification

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)

Yangon, , MM

Job description

Myanmar remains one of the least developed countries in Southeast Asia with a very low electrification rate. With the adoption of the National Electrification Plan (NEP) in 2015, the Government of Myanmar is spearheading a large-scale rural electrification initiative to provide universal access to electricity by 2030. The NEP outlines various options for rural electrification. In addition to the extension of the national grid, solar home systems and decentralized mini-grids are being implemented in off-grid areas that will not be connected to the main grid for at least 10 years. The isolated power generation and distribution systems are expected to play a vital role in the NEP off-grid rollout. GIZ’s Promotion of Rural Electrification project is working to deliver technical assistance to public and private sector stakeholders to promote Micro and Mini Hydropower Mini Grids.
