Part-time Researcher in Climate and Flood Hydrology

We are seeking a Researcher with interest in hydro climatology to work on a recently funded project, which aims to investigate changes in flooding over time. You will be part of a dynamic, international group of researchers working in climate and flood hydrology.

The main duties of the role will be to be responsible for hydrological and climate data retrieval and analysis, literature synthesis, leading and co-authoring papers, and organising collaborative meetings. The post is computational and will involve retrieving and analysing global climate model outputs from a range of sources. You will manage academic research and administrative activities such as project data, group GitHub account, or workshop/conference organisation.

The successful candidate will hold, or be near to completion, of a relevant PhD with experience or interests in hydrology and/or climatology. Experience with climate data analysis and visualisation, or an interest in learning these skills is highly desirable. You will possess strong open-source coding skills, preferably in R or Python. You will have strong writing and literature review skills, an interest in climate and flood non-stationarity, and a demonstrated ability to write technical, scientific materials. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings are essential.

This is a part-time (50% FTE) post offered for 18 months (or until 30 September 2021, whichever comes first).
