Responsibilities

This position involves the performance of the following duties: 

Conducts research to determine existing levels of information on water rights by reviewing water supply papers, water resource plans, Job Documentation Records, Unit Resource .Analyses, Federal and local Office records on water rights and other inventory record. Prepares summaries of all known information. Prepares for field work by gathering necessary maps and equipment, reviews aerial photographs, consults with supervisor to identify springs and water developments for inventory and select representative reaches of streams for inventory, and arranges access to isolated arces. In field, determines location, type of development, uses, channel stability and flow or volume for each water source selected for inventory. Determines whether a water right exists or can be claimed. -Drafts Notices of Existing Use for Public Water Reserves’ and applications for appropriative rights on other sources as needed.

The incumbent’s time is spent in the field and in office. Field work involves irregular hours in a wide variety of remote and rugged terrain.
