Then become an integral part of our Surface Water Hydrology team as we monitor and analyse rainfall and flow data from across the region.
Our Hydrology field teams run a network of continuous water level, flow and rainfall monitoring sites across Canterbury. The data we collect supports our science team, and informs decision making about the management of Canterbury’s surface water resources.
As the successful applicant you will work alongside both the science and field teams. You will aid with the collection, processing and archiving of water quantity data and ensure that data processing and quality checks are carried out to a high standard. You will respond to public requests for data and liaise with internal and external parties to ensure our data is accurate and available to the public on LAWA. You will extract data and perform a range of analysis to enable the science team to deliver good advice, while continuing to develop your programming skills to help support our team objectives.

You will require a master’s degree in a relevant field, or a bachelor’s degree plus 2 years professional experience. Occasional field work will be required so a full driver’s license and an ability to swim are also essential.
