The Penn State Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications for a tenure-line faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full professor in the broad area of water resources engineering with emphasis on smart water infrastructure and systems. In particular, applicants with expertise in sensors, data collection, analysis, modeling, optimization, prediction, and/or real-time control are invited. The ideal candidate should demonstrate intellectual depth and promise for high-quality research as well as a commitment to teaching excellence, and will assume a key role in interdisciplinary research and teaching collaborations. This search is part of the Penn State cluster hire in water resources, co-funded by the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment (IEE). The CEE Department is a vibrant and dynamic unit with 35 faculty members, 17 research scientists, annual research expenditures of $16 million, and U.S. News and World Report graduate program rankings of 21st for civil engineering and 26th for environmental engineering. Department faculty members have received prestigious honors including many professional society awards, ten NSF CAREER awards, and one NAE membership.
