Position Summary

The Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER) under the Herff College of Engineering at the University of Memphis invites applications for a postdoctoral position, pending availability of funding. The position encompasses a broad range of activity that includes assisting graduate students in conducting their water-related field research in groundwater and surface water, developing innovative methodologies to collect data beyond traditional means, advancing CAESER’s research agenda by pursuing external funding opportunities, building regional and international collaborations among other science research centers, and developing educational material for outreach purposes to multi-generational audiences including elected officials. The research will be conducted through CAESER, primarily under the direction of Dr. Brian Waldron. The primary location for the post-doctoral researcher will be in Memphis, Tennessee, at the University of Memphis main campus with much time also spent at the University of Memphis-Lambuth campus in Jackson, Tennessee. This is a one-year appointment with possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding.
Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. in a relevant field of science or engineering. Individuals with experience in agricultural water use, groundwater field studies, and community outreach are encouraged to apply. The position is expected to begin April 1, 2020. The expected salary range is $45,000 to $55,000 per year, depending on experience and available funding.
