Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Develops, manages, and leads implementation strategies for UMD’s domestic water reduction initiative efforts. Maintains responsibility for water system planning, assessments and managing, coordinating and supporting the efforts of the various campus groups involved in water system operations, maintenance, testing and regulatory reporting. Provides engineering support through review of planning, design, and construction projects, verifying compliance with regulatory requirements. Develops water system strategies, designs and construction standards related to domestic, sewer and storm water systems. Coordinates and manages campus storm water MS 4 permit requirements, campus storm water master plan, and environmental site design.

Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, water resource management, environmental engineering or related technology field.


Eight (8) years of progressively responsible related experience to include water system planning, three (3) years of which are in a position of leadership.

Must have knowledge, skill and experience dealing with water supply systems, and water conservation and reuse issues. Must have knowledge of management/supervisory practices. Must know permit requirements and current best practices; incumbent is required to stay abreast of the latest technological advances in the water conservation and reuse management industry. Must be an effective communicator, both in oral and written form. Must have the ability to use computers and be adept at using word-processing and Excel ArcGIS and AutoCAD. Must have experience with MS 4 permit requirements and State of Md MDE regulations for storm water.
Must maintain PE licensure and stay up to date on MD MDE storm water management rules and regulations and permitting requirements.
