| Outputs 1. A combination of in-country and long-distance training and technical and strategic support on SEEA implementation is effectively provided, enabling the countries to take concrete steps towards publishing SEEA accounts; 2. Effective technical and strategic support (in-country and long-distance), enabling countries to expand ocean accounts pilot studies with a focus on informing national ocean policy priorities; 3. Substantive contributions (presentations, exercises, agendas, facilitation, lecturing) provided to the planning and delivery of events on waste accounts and the integration of geospatial and statistical information for land accounting. |

| Duties and Responsibilities |

| ESCAP seeks the expertise of one or more consultants to support expanded application of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) and pilot studies on ocean accounting by countries in Asia and the Pacific. Objectives Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Economic and Environment Statistics Section and in consultation with relevant staff, the consultant(s) are required to provide long-distance and in-country support (approximately 10 days per country in total) through the planning and delivery of the following: 1. Assisting Lao PDR, Uzbekistan and Vanuatu with initiating and/or improving land accounts. 2. Assisting the Maldives in applying SEEA to the tourism sector and compiling sector-relevant accounts. 3. Assisting Mongolia with improving water, solid waste and air emissions accounts. 4. Assisting one or more of the following countries with expanding the pilot studies on ocean accounts: Malaysia, Samoa, Viet Nam. 5. Contributing to the planning and delivery of one or more of the following events: regional workshop on waste accounts (Thailand); national workshops on the integration of geospatial and statistical information for land accounting (Uzbekistan and Tajikistan). |

| Qualifications/special skills |

| Academic Qualifications: University degree or equivalent in statistics or related environmental sciences with emphasis on applied quantitative skills. Experience: • Internationally recognized expertise on economic-environmental accounting and/or ecosystem accounting. • A minimum of 10 years of experience relevant to environmental-economic accounting. • Experience with applying SEEA at the country level is required. • Experience working with or in the official statistical system of a developing country is required. • Experience from the Asia-Pacific region is highly desirable. Language: Fluency in English. |
