As a Hydrologic Technician within the New England Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
- Make stream discharge measurements using various techniques, equipment, and protocols that will aid in the development and refinement of ratings and shifts.
- Operate and maintain gaging equipment and electronic recorders and sensors, keeping detailed notes and site sketches that will aid in the computations of surface water records.
- Establish and maintain altitude measuring points and completing assigned work within established deadlines.
- Use a computer to execute data entry processes, review real-time data via World Wide Web, and to communicate with electronic data loggers, sensors, and field equipment.
- Effectively interact and communicate with colleagues and the public in a positive oral and written manner.

Work Environment:
The work regularly involves high risks of exposure to potentially dangerous or hazardous situations requiring a range of safety precautions. Conditions typically cannot be controlled and are unpredictable.
Physical Demands:
The work regularly requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent lifting of heavy equipment or instruments over 50 pounds; or walking through heavy snow or mud when traveling to field sites.
