Position Overview:  The Environmental Sciences and Sustainability (ESS) Program at Merrimack College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the area of environmental politics or policy, with possible expertise in areas such as environmental planning, law, or the non-profit sector. Applicants whose research focuses on either the domestic U.S. or international contexts are welcome. The ESS program is an interdisciplinary program that adopts a holistic approach. Students study environmental problems from the perspectives of the natural sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities with the end of addressing those problems at the local, regional, and global scale. Courses in the ESS program all include experiential learning wherein students develop real-world experience through campus and community-based projects. The successful applicant will be housed in the Political Science and Public Policy Department. They will teach courses in the common core for both the BA and BS degree programs and have the opportunity to develop and teach upper level courses both in the ESS program and their home department. 

Merrimack College has a 3/3 course load for tenure-track faculty.

  • Ph.D. in relevant field
  • Teaching experience and commitment to undergraduate education
  • Evidence of scholarly activity
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary teaching, collaboration, and supporting students is essential.
