The British Red Cross is looking for a WASH Delegate to be seconded to the Swedish Red Cross in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
The role will support provision of adequate sanitation and solid waste management for refugee population in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The WASH Delegate will supervise the quality implementation of sanitation FSM chain operations including appropriate latrine and bathroom facilities, a pumped sludge network and a biological faecal sludge treatment plant.
The British Red Cross and Swedish Red Cross are working together to support a WASH programme in Cox’s Bazar which was lead by BRC up until 30 September 2019.
From October 2019, the program transitioned to a Swedish Red Cross led consortia with BRC providing financial contribution and technical expertise to the programme.
The WASH Delegate will work under the direct supervision of the WASH Consortium Programme Manager (Swedish RC) and alongside Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and IFRC staff to deliver an appropriate sanitation and Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) intervention that meets the needs of the affected population. The post holder will have a dotted line relationship with the BRC Country Manager in Bangladesh.
The successful candidate will have proven extensive working experience in international humanitarian operations in the areas of water, sanitation and hygiene. They will have experience working in a similar context and should have excellent knowledge of working with local partners.
The candidate should have clear understanding and experience working within the RC Movement, although this is not a mandatory requirement
