Through its development and social policy work in the fields of climate justice, access to land and food, migration, and integration, HEKS/EPER strives for systemic change – globally and in Switzerland.

Roving WASH Coordinator, Ukraine, 100%

Your main responsibilities:

DEVELOP SNFI & WASH STRATEGY

  • Analyse and provide a diagnosis of WASH-related aspects at the mission level
  • Design / review the WASH strategy and Plan of Action, guidelines, tools
  • Ensure follow up on the roll out of the WASH Strategy through regular field visits (at least one week per month)
  • Meet communities, authorities, and humanitarian actors to contribute to the WASH strategy
  • Make sure appropriate data and analysis are shared from the field to allow decision making and acurate needs understanding at Field CO level

TRAINING, CAPACITY BUILDING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  • Supervise the WASH Manager and together with the SPC, advise to Field COs on HR needs and set-up in the field for successful project implementation
  • Deploy WASH training package for all relevant staff
  • Develop WASH team’s capacities in their field of expertis: needs assessment, data collection and analysis, measure of indicators, complaint and feedback response mechanism, do-no harm analysis and etc.
  • Provide WASH teams with a technical and methodological support for WASH activities
  • Identify technical training requirements and the resources available

MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF SNFI AND WASH PROGRAMS

  • Together with Field COs,ensure WASH activities are planned according to the expected results, donor requirements and timelines, and consistent with sectoral quality standards.
  • Contribute to the elaboration, review and harmonization of WASH templates and make sure these templates and tools are properly implemented in the field
  • Check relevance of reports, analysis, maps and recommendations produced by the WASH Manager and field teams before dissemination
  • Participate in kickoff meetings, lessons learning and knowledge building sessions, and integrate findings in WASH guidelines

COORDINATION, REPRESENTATION AND REPORTING

  • Actively participate in the mission’s coordination meetings, proposal writing
  • Take part to the monthly review of programs (budget, operational, logistick)
  • Contribute to proposal writing and technical reporting (WASH objectives, approach, work plan, budget, etc.)
  • Represent HEKS/EPER when asked and/or delegated to do so
  • In coordination with WASH manager and field teams, develop articles, case studies and success stories

To be successful you bring:

  • University degree (including, but not limited to: Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering (strongly related to heavy construction works with local materials)
  • 2 years of experience in a similar position (NGOs/private companies) in the Shelter, WASH or NFI sector
  • Understanding humanitarian actors and donors is desirable.
  • Fluent in English (speaking/reading/writing). Ukrainian and Russian desirable.
  • Good analytical and writing skills
  • Understanding of project cycle management
  • Good management capacities and team leadership spirit
  • Good knowledge of the MS office software (including Word, Excel, Outlook) and AutoCAD
  • Excellent sense of organization and capacity to work autonomously while reporting adequately
  • Result-oriented mindset
  • Ability to analyze and suggest improvement
  • Ability to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work
  • Good contract and report writing skills
  • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations
