UNICEF is seeking talented professionals in the Disaster Risk Reduction/ Climate Change Adaption (DDR/CCA) area at the Advanced Degree levels. Both local and international Candidates are invited to submit their CVs to be added to the Country Office Roster, as a first part of the selection process for suitable consultancies.
Rosters at UNICEF are exclusive lists of pre-vetted, highly qualified candidates intended to fast-track recruitment processes as consultancy positions become available locally. After a rigorous selection process, successful candidates assessed as ready for these levels will be placed in the DRR/CCA Roster. While placement in the Roster does not guarantee a position, it is an important resource for filling Consultancy positions as they become available.
In fulfillment of implementing the commitments made under the joint country programme with the Governments of both countries (Guyana and Suriname), UNICEF is seeking suitable candidates (for consultancies) who can work in the areas of research, policy, planning, advocacy, emergency response and planning, resource mobilization, capacity building and community action in the following areas:
i. Child Focused Risk and Vulnerability Assessment Tool Development
ii. Risk Informed Programming
iii. Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning
iv. Climate Change Adaptation/ Climate Energy and Environment
v. Child and Youth Participation in National Climate Change and DRR Policy Development
2. Tasks and Responsibility
Consultants for the roster, will be selected for several tasks, based on the priorities, as agreed with implementing partners. These include, work at policy and community levels, capacity building, research and advocacy, emergency response and planning, resource mobilization and strategic planning.
3. Qualification and Experience
The successful candidate is required to meet the following criteria:
• An advanced university degree
• A minimum of three (3) years of progressive, relevant work experience
• Proficiency in English (written & verbal)
• Proficiency in Dutch would be an asset for all consultancies in Suriname (please indicate on your application in which languages you are proficient)
• Good understanding of climate change issues and risk assessments
