What Your Job Will Be Like
- Conduct a literature search on how water-related decisions are made at the individual and organization levels
- Apply text mining algorithms on newspaper articles to identify patterns
- Share findings with subject matter experts and other researchers
- Write reports summarizing findings
Qualifications We Require
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
- Earned bachelor’s degree
- Currently attending and enrolled full time (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited graduate program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire
- Experience studying the intersection between physical and social dimensions of water resources
- Interest in natural language processing tools and techniques (e.g., topics modeling and semantic analysis)
- Programming in Python, R, or similar software
- Pursuing graduate degree in relevant discipline within sciences or engineering
- Background in complex systems and/or coupled natural and human systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work at least 8 weeks
About Our Team
The Energy Water System Integration department works at the intersection of the coupled human (engineered systems) and natural systems to support the security of the nation¿s energy water systems. We do this through data modeling and analysis, geo-spatial analysis, hydrology and hydrogeology modeling, climate impact assessments to energy water systems at the watershed scale, risk assessments, and decision support tools.
