This position can be filled by an employee at any location
Our Water sector, which brings together many of the world’s top engineers and scientists, sees water a bit differently—as a single holistic system rather than as unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. We use this perspective to help communities tap into water’s potential. Throughout the life cycle of capture, use, reuse, and discharge, our team optimizes every facet of a water system. Whether a project calls for planners, designers, construction managers, or facility operators, we have the right experts to provide creative, yet practical, water solutions.
Chief Engineers hold a unique position in our water group, their role is to guide our engineering disciplines in the advancement of skills, innovation and quality as it relates to the delivery of our work. They facilitate our communities of global and national level engineering discipline leads ensuring workflows leverage the right level of expertise and always mitigate risk. The management and governance of engineering technical data and standards is at the core of the role, always fostering a culture of quality.
Your Opportunity
WATERSHED & RIVER HYDRAULICS DISCIPLINE:
The Watershed and River Hydraulics Discipline supports the Water Sector (practice and delivery) as well as other business lines by providing technical leadership and specialized project delivery services related to the planning and assessment of watershed hydrology and open-channel hydraulics (streams, rivers, canals, and reservoirs). Services include analysis, modelling, and development of solutions related to flood risk, dam and levee safety, water quality, sediment transport, aquatic habitats and water availability.
The market focus for the Watershed and Rivers Discipline include Federal programs (FEMA, USACE, USBR), State and Provincial Agencies (DNRs and EMAs) and large multi-jurisdiction watershed organizations (e.g. Conservancy Districts).
The Watershed and Rivers Discipline operates independently from, but collaborates closely with, the Urban Water Resources Discipline and Advanced Hydraulics specialty teams. The organizational chart below describes the collaboration network in further detail. Chief Engineers collaborate across technical disciplines to link our network of practitioners across water.
