For strengthening and supporting our Water Resources & Sanitary Engineering team we are looking for a committed and experienced Water Supply Engineer (f/m/d) with experience in consulting in project of donor-financed international development cooperation at the earliest possible. In this position, you will be responsible for project acquisition and the technical and organisational coordination of projects, including assumption of responsibility for results. You will also act as expert in international projects during short-term assignments. Moreover, you will be involved in shaping the acquisition policy and teamwork by guiding and training local or international employees.
Your Main Duties in this Position During Project Acquisition:
- Contacts with clients (ministries / development banks) and pursuit of project approaches at an early stage
- Participation in the preparation of pre-qualifications / expressions of interest and independent follow-up, including early contact with potential local partner companies and potential candidates for international and national expert positions
- Responsible preparation of proposals including staff organization, preparation and / or coordination of the professional proposal, preparation of financial proposals and technical processing
For on-going projects:
- Coordination and accompanying monitoring of the activities of the project team
- Quality assuring and quality controlling backstopping from Cologne and, if required, on site
- Proactive coordination of project progress and milestones with clients and project partners
- Schedule control (assistance in meeting deadlines) during reporting and editing of project reports
- Monitoring of compliance with invoicing deadlines
- Follow-up of invoices issued in coordination with the project controllers
- Preparation of project extensions and development of the acquisition potential of current projects
As a technical expert (f/m/d) for short-term assignments:
- Technical and financial project responsibility
- Team leader or project team expert
- Fulfilment of the technical tasks according to the project specifications or Terms of Reference
- Responsible report writing or coordination of report writing
- Coordination with project partners and local departments of the client
- Responsibility for on-time monthly invoicing of project costs
Your Expertise / Profile for this Position
- Full academic qualification (MSc. or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Process Engineering or similar
- At least 5 years proven work experience in international consulting development projects with focus on water supply related schemes
- Ability to verify tender documents (calculations, drawings, specifications, etc.)
- Fluent language skills (oral and written) in French, English and preferably German, additional language skills in Spanish would be an advantage
- Distinct communication skills as well as report writing skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams as well as being a self-starter personality
- Mobility (also on short-notice) and willingness to work on project assignments
- Ability to work under time-pressure
