Background:

Water and Environment Unit is part of the PIQA (Program Impact &Quality Assurance) Department and responsible for global guidance and leadership of Water Security programming in CRS. Our focus is on strengthening coordination, improving knowledge management, and providing technical assistance to country and regional offices to implement CRS Water Security Strategy 2030. The unit is made up of a Senior Technical Advisor, Technical Advisor for WASH (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene) in Health Care Facilities and the Project Director for Azure Intuitive. The unit works closely with the WASH team in the Humanitarian Response Department and collaborates with other sections. This internship seeks a current undergraduate or graduate student seeking to obtain work experience that aligns with his/her studies in water, sanitation, hygiene, environment and/or to fulfill requirements for an academic course or degree.

Primary Function:

 The major outcomes expected from this position are.

  • Compendium of water security, sanitation, hygiene case studies, internet and yammer sites regularly updated, community of practice sharing sessions and other communication and advocacy activities regularly supported.
  • The intern will learn how to work in teams, coordinate global partners and support the development of Water Resources and WASH knowledge management products.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting the development of case studies for the development of Water Security Compendium  
  • Supporting the development and update of Water and Environment communication yammer and internet sites
  • Supporting the Water and Environment Community of Practice sharing sessions and following up on action points and discussions
  • Researching Water Security activities, trends, issues, and updates in the global landscape for internal sharing

Internal: 

  • Knowledge Management Focal Persons in Program Impact and Quality Assurance Department
  • Regional Technical Advisors, Technical Advisor for WASH in Health Care Facilities, Program Director for Azure Initiative
  • WASH Team in Humanitarian Response Department

External

  • Global Water Resources and WASH sector partners such as Agenda for Change and Millennium Water Alliance Members

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student in the field of water, sanitation, environmental management, natural sciences, or international development preferred 
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have excellent English language skills. French and Spanish language skills preferred
  • Must have great social media and website use/update skills
  • Passionate with commitment, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work well with remote teams
