Summary

This position is located in the office of the U.S. Section of the Commission, International Joint Commission in Washington, D.C. The International Joint Commission assists the governments of the United States and Canada in preventing and resolving water and environmental disputes along the boundary under the 1909 Boundary Waters Treaty and pursues the common good of both countries as an independent and objective advisor to the two governments.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as policy advisor in the U.S. Section of the Commission, providing authoritative advice on the mission, programs, and functions of the Commission.
  • Plans, leads, and conducts authoritative research, analyses, and studies on Commission transboundary water policy and management issues.
  • Prepares written and oral reports and makes suggestions and recommendations to the supervisor for comprehensive reports.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements projects assigned by Commissioners or the U.S. Secretary.
  • Develops and maintains continuous contact with professional counterparts in appropriate U.S. and Canadian federal, state, provincial, local, university, industry, business, and non governmental organizations and activities.
