Staff Attorney (Environmental Health Program)
The Center for International Environmental Law is seeking a passionate lawyer and experienced advocate as a Staff Attorney contributing to the work of its Environmental Health Program (EH).
This is a great opportunity for an energetic individual with knowledge of international environmental law and a commitment to the bold approaches to human rights and international law that define CIEL’s work, to support the work of the EH program.
The EH program works to strengthen regulation of toxic substances and protect communities and families worldwide from toxic risks. The program focuses on particular on global efforts to confront the plastic crisis, limiting exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals, and strengthening the precautionary principle in the EU.
The Staff Attorney position requires: familiarity with international environmental law and the sources and impacts of plastic pollution. The Staff Attorney will also have impeccable legal research and writing skills. Experience within multilateral environmental negotiations and working with civil society networks are strongly preferred and knowledge of human rights processes and EU law is a plus.
The position is full-time, based in Geneva, Switzerland, and requires periodic international travel, including for extended periods. A complete position description is available here. Salary is commensurate with experience.
