Social Media Intern

What You Will Do:

We are looking for a social media intern to join our vibrant start-up team in our San Francisco office. This role supports and evolves the company’s social media efforts and will help the right person gain experience in B2B social media, marketing, writing, and communication while working alongside a small but powerful team of content and marketing pros. The social media specialist will be part of the content marketing team and report to the Marketing Manager.

How You Will Do It:

  • Coordinate, schedule, write, and promote content for water industry thought leadership, event promotion, and recruiting across corporate social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)
  • Monitor, understand, and engage with online audiences through social media replies
  • Social media and news monitoring for water industry trends and news
  • Engage in live tweeting and social media monitoring during planned webinars and conferences
  • Plan, manage, and maintain a social editorial and blog calendar
  • Monitor client and competitor coverage
  • Advise and collaborate with bloggers on topics; provide editing and SEO optimization on select thought leadership blogs
  • Perform competitive audits
  • Participate in team brainstorms in collaboration with sales, client services, product, and marketing teams
  • Contribute to planning social media strategy
  • Collect data, create a social media dashboard, and report on social metrics; provide recommendations based on content performance

What You Will Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree candidate in communications, journalism, marketing, environmental engineering, or public relations is preferred
  • Flexibility to live tweet and social media monitor during events and conferences
  • Experience with or interest in sustainability, and enterprise software 
  • Excellent, proven writing and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of social media; active participant across multiple social media channels and experience with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google Plus, Instagram, etc.
  • Motivated, creative, and enthusiastic self-starter with attention to detail and ability to complete tasks within a set deadline
  • Team player with a go-getter attitude and eagerness to learn
