The Department of Life Sciences undertakes high quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and scientific research across the disciplines of Biosciences, Sport, Health & Exercise Sciences, Psychology and Environmental Sciences. With over 120 academics based on a pleasant campus, we are a highly committed and forward-thinking academic community, proud of our world-leading research, our diversity and the student experience we provide.

The Division of Environmental Sciences employs academics and researchers from a wide range of natural and social sciences working in multi-disciplinary teams within, across and beyond these groups to help find solutions to global challenges. Our research is mostly centred on protecting the aquatic environment and society from harmful effects of chemical pollution in a rapidly changing world.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a motivated Lecturer / Senior Lecturer academic to contribute to our UG, PGT and PGR curriculum in environmental management, environmental monitoring, sustainable development and planetary health, and to make a substantial research contribution to the Centre for Pollution Research and Policy. To complement and build on our world-leading chemical pollution research we encourage applications from candidates with interests across global heating and pollution mobilisation, planetary boundaries for pollution (including combined exposures), pollution and freshwater ecology, management strategies for the mitigation of recognised threats and environmental economics.

Successful candidates will have a PhD in a relevant area, have appropriate experience in higher education, and an emerging (lecturer) or established (senior lecturer) research profile with publications suitable for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.
Brunel has a strong track-record of securing research funding from EU and other international sources. Regardless of the long-term future for UK participation in Horizon Europe, Brunel will continue to ensure that staff have access to non-EU research funding, and we will continue to support our many bilateral collaborations within the EU and will remain an active member of YERUN.
We offer a generous annual leave package plus discretionary University closure days, excellent training and development opportunities as well as a great occupational pension scheme and a range of health-related support. The University is committed to a hybrid working approach.

Closing date for applications: Monday, 17 April 2023 (midnight)
