Applications are invited for 2 full-time Assistant/Associate Professors/Professors in Hydrometeorology,Hydrology and Water Resources, Hydraulic Engineering at the the School of Hydrology and Water Resources (SHWR), Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST).


Since the establishment in 2011, the School of Hydrology and Water Resources (SHWR) has been focusing on interdisciplinary research of hydrology, meteorology, ecology, and information sciences, aiming to provide advice and technical support for adaptation to climate change, flood and drought forecasting, and early warning of hydrometeorological disasters. SHWR consists of three departments, the Department of Hydrometeorology, the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources, and the Department of Smart Water Conservancy, and has three undergraduate majors together with three master’s programs in Atmospheric Science and Hydraulic Engineering, as well as PhD program in Hydrometeorology. SHWR also commits to the construction of high-level scientific platforms, such as Key Laboratory of Hydrometeorological Disaster Mechanism and the Warning of Ministry of Water Resources.

The post is based in the modern city of Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, with easy access to public transportation, international airports, convenient stores, hospitals etc.

Main Responsibilities:

The appointee is expected to teach courses and do research in Applied Hydrometeorology, Hydrometeorological Ensemble Forecast, and Remote Sensing/Fundamentals of Ecology, Principles of Hydrology, and Water Environmental Protection/Hydraulics, Water Resources Management, and Hydroinformatics.

Person Specification:


  • PhD or equivalent degree in Atmospheric Science, Hydrology and Water Resources, Geography,/Ecology, Biology, Geography, Natural Resource Science/Hydraulics and River Dynamics, Hydraulic and Hydro-power Engineering or a field relevant to hydrometeorology/eco-hydrology/Hydraulics and River Dynamics/Hydraulic Engineering
  • Appropriate research experience
  • High proficiency in English
  • Ability to teach courses in Hydrometeorology/Eco-Hydrology/Hydraulic Engineering


  • PhD degree from top 200 universities;
  • Postdoctoral experience or over 3-year research experience;
  • Well recognized academic achievements and high reputation in related fields;
  • Teaching expertise in hydrometeorology/water resources and eco-hydrology/Hydraulic Engineering;
