Position Summary

The Fellow will provide specialized knowledge and research on energy and environmental regulatory issues related to various state, federal and international policy. The fellow will communicate research with media at conferences and other venues, both locally and globally.

PhD or JD degree specializing in work with a government agency with primary experience in environmental oversight.

– Communicate research on behalf of the center to media and at conferences and other venues locally and globally.
– Establish and maintain contacts with key academic, government and social institutions that work in a collaborative manner with the Center for Energy Studies.

Description of Job Duty

– Play a leading role in developing the vision and framework for the Institute’s research and programming on energy and environmental regulatory issues.
– Represent the Center and Institute in external policy debates through publications, speaking engagements and other thought leadership.
– Develop and cultivate new constituencies of interest on the topic.
– Plan, direct, and lead research activities with Rice and non-Rice academic collaborators on projects where the Fellow in Energy and Environmental Regulatory Affairs is a principal investigator or named as a researcher.
– Write proposals for funding to further the research goals of the Center for Energy Studies in the area of energy and environment regulatory issues.
– Responsible for the submission and management of grants and sponsored research in which the candidate is a listed principal investigator or co-principal investigator.
