You will possess a sound knowledge of water level management, combined with demonstrable knowledge and experience in asset operation and maintenance including pumping stations of varying types and water level control structures.

Key responsibilities

  • Overall coordination of water level activities across the catchment
  • Mentoring team members will be an important part of your duties
  • Liaising with our internal and external partners
  • Keeping our employees and the public safe so you will require knowledge of Site Health & Safety requirements

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team

The Team is based at Willop Depot Romney Marsh. Our area extends from Folkstone to Rye and Camber. We protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood defence assets and responding to incidents across the catchment.

Field teams have a range of technical skills they use to deliver watercourse maintenance, along with maintenance of flood defence assets and construction projects. The team handle a variety of specialist equipment including plant and boats.

Experience/skills required

• A proven record in water level management and comprehensive knowledge of assets and water level duties
• Experience of asset maintenance and pumping station operation on a variety of pump types.
• You should have the necessary practical ability and approach along with an environmental awareness
• Experience in asset operation or maintenance/incident response/use of equipment/tools/plant, including boats will be valuable, however full training will be provided.
• Knowledge of site health and safety requirements
• Literacy and numeracy skills are required
• Competent in using IT devices, such as an iPad, and willing to learn our in-house systems
• Undertake specialist training as and when required

You will be trained and supported to contribute to our response to incidents inside and outside of normal working hours
