The Opportunity

Shelter/WASH Engineer aims to support Earthquake response team to conduct infrastructure damage need assessment, prepare feasibility reports to establish temporary and semi-permanent structures, develop the case base bill of quantity (BOQ), cost estimate and monitor checklist. The engineer will be leading to build such construction activities as per SCI Construction and procurement policy. 
In order to be successful you will bring/have: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or Architecture 
  • At least 3 years of professional NGO experience in the field 
  • Fluent in English and Turkish languages both speaking and writing.
  • High level skill on CAD software
  • High level of skill of developing BOQs and Cost estimate.
  • Experience of site supervision and project management for construction
  • Experience of developing and negotiating successful partnerships with institutional donors
  • Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
  • Proven ability to influence change at an operational and strategic level.


  • Knowledge of Arabic
  • Experience of designing / leading emergency shelter responses.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up learning and development processes for a large team
  • Experience of senior level representation, including coordination at national, WG or govt level
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience of mentoring and coaching staff to achieve their goals
  • Advise on international best practice for building regulations for hazard resistance in non-engineered buildings.
  • Commitment to, thorough understanding of, and able to train staff in participation and accountability approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up monitoring & evaluation systems in large complex programmes.
  • Proven ability of mentoring and coaching.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.

Position holder will be based in Gaziantep or Hatay, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
