Permanent
Salary: UK: £67,000 to £76,200 with excellent benefits
Nigeria: 27,901,873 to 34,877,342 NGN
South Africa: 1,336,257 to 1,674,234 ZAR
Location: UK, Nigeria or South Africa.
UK based: Hybrid Working, 2-3 days in the London office (Canary Wharf) ideally with flexibility.

About the Team:

The Global Head of Media will play a leadership role in a newly restructured UK Communications Department, lead our UK Media team and play a key role in our global approach to media.

The Media Team, consisting of Media including Celebrity Management, PR, UK and Global News, will play a strategic role in helping us to achieve our ambitious Global Strategy, specifically through the growth of our fundraising, advocacy and campaigning, as well as through a renewed focus on elevating our brand and the

importance of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) both within the UK and globally.

About the Role:

The Global Head of Media will play a crucial role in driving awareness of the water, sanitation and hygiene crisis and WaterAid’s role in addressing it. This is an exciting and unique chance to significantly increase our impact for our advocacy, fundraising and awareness through our work with the media.

In this role, you will use your expertise to develop and embed a clear vision and strategy for Global Media with specific focus on the UK.

You’ll also:

• Build excellent relationships with target journalists and media who will help us to reach our target audiences.

• Play a key role in our reputation management.

• Elevate our engagement of celebrity ambassadors, building relationships which help us to achieve our
objectives.

• Seek opportunities to elevate the importance of WASH on the global agenda, specifically amongst key
audiences, and position WaterAid as the thought leaders within the WASH sector.

About You:
To be successful, you’ll need:

• Extensive experience of working in Global Media at a senior level.

• Inspiring leader who engages, coaches and empowers others through a clear vision, decisive action and strong strategic thinking with proven experience of successfully leading, managing and inspiring high calibre teams.

• Experience of managing and aligning large multi-functional teams.

• Experience of driving and managing change (including others) to achieve the organisation’s goals and
aspirations.

• Passionate about ending poverty and want to be a part of making it happen, with commitment to WaterAid’s
mission and values, and a working style that reflects these.

• Alignment with WaterAid’s values and a commitment to driving Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.

• Experience of working within or with Leadership Teams and influencing/advising at an Executive or Board of
Trustee level
