Who are we?

DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish humanitarian, non-government and non-profit organisation working in Ukraine since 2022. DCA has its main office in Lviv, Western Ukraine, but is in the process of establishing an office in Kyiv. The DCA country programme in Ukraine has focused on various humanitarian interventions and is starting its implementation of Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) in early 2023. The Ukraine programme currently employs around 12 national and international staff, with a fast-growing team and programme.

About the job

The WASH/Shelter Coordinator will contribute to the efficient and effective WASH management of the DCA Ukraine Office, with a responsibility of providing technical support to local partners, monitoring and liaison with local stakeholders and other departments

The position is a national position that will be based at the DCA office in Kyiv, with travels to other DCA sites in Ukraine expected.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support, guidance, and quality assurance for the work of DCA’s local partners
  • Monitoring, on-site and remotely, of the technical work of partners and their contractors and suppliers
  • Communication with relevant technical governmental authorities
  • Liaison with local stakeholders and community support groups
  • Support or lead the assessment of technical and humanitarian needs
  • Preparation of bill of quantities (BoQs) and technical specification documents
  • Active role in DCA’s or partners’ procurements as technical focal point
  • Representation of DCA in national and sub-national WASH/Shelter Cluster meetings and other relevant coordination forums
  • Reports writing and providing input to relevant internal DCA documentation
  • Other ad hoc assignments
  • Share monthly reports with DCA SMT that covers the entire fleet and gives a clear overview of mileage, usage of spares, fuel, and other repairs
  • Scan and upload Log sheets on PPD on Intranet under relevant project

We are looking for the following qualifications and experience:

  • Engineering degree, Bachelor level or higher (Civil, Mechanical, or similar)
  • Minimum 5 years’ technical experience in projects within water and sanitation, district heating and civil works in the Ukrainian public or private sector
  • Experience with humanitarian work in a similar position will be considered an advantage, but it is not a pre-requisite
  • Computer literacy essential including proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Ukrainian
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team, diplomatic skills, proactiveness, punctuality, respect for organizational procedures, processes and deadlines, flexibility, ability to work in a demanding environment, respect for coworkers, ability to set priorities and create and follow plans, good communication and diplomacy skills
