The Evaluation, Research and Learning team is looking for a Research Officer to research and write publications and to support research management. The postholder will plan, research, write, edit and coordinate technical publications about diverse aspects of urban WASH. This may include research and writing roles with primary responsibility for content; or in other cases supporting and coordinating other authors, then editing their work to publication quality.

The post-holder will liaise with WSUP’s Communications Officer for design, layout and printing: the post-holder will not be expected to deal with these areas themselves. We would initially expect publications roles to take up around 50-75% of the post-holder’s time. The role will also involve support the team’s ongoing planning, start-up and roll-out of WSUP’s Research Strategy 2016-2020. This work component may involve various types of task, including for example participation in organisation and/or delivery of in-country sector consultation workshops, or creation of documentation required for the start-up process (potentially ranging from administrative documents like planning spreadsheets, to technical documents like literature reviews). Administrative, coordination or technical tasks as required for effective ERL function is a key part of the role, for example, coordinating monitoring and evaluation processes , or administrative support with organisation of a conference presentation.

The successful candidate will have professional writing experience, strong qualitative research skills, the ability to manage and interpret numerical data and excellent communication skills.
